In other ethanol fireplaces glass holders are visible and you have to remove the glass if you want to change the level of the flame... The burner contains a ceramic core that slowly absorbs the liquid fuel. This causes the burner to not burn the pure liquid, but the harmless gas it releases.
Thus making the fire burn more gradually. The result is a safer and cleaner burner, which is easy to ignite and gives a beautiful consistent fire and the ethanol burns up to 50% longer.
